Bought Skoda Octavia in May 2017. The car has run for c.9000 Km. Thus OE tyres (Goodyear) are still covered under Warranty.
The tyre got a balloon / bulge suddenly on its side wall about 15 days back. Reported the same to Goodyear India and after inspection, I have been advised that this is due to the car tyre having bumped in pothole, resulting in crack in the inner side of tyre. Being an external damage, this is not covered under OE warranty.
Am really sorry to state that this is the most inept justification for not covering the OE part under warranty. Not to state that everyone tries to save their car to get into potholes, however while driving in India potholes are something that cannot be avoided. Thus the car tyre should have been designed to take care of such damage.
Have been driving cars for more than 20 years now and have used tyres of ‘Bridgestone’ and ‘MRF’ in smaller cars. Still have never faced such a problem before.
Such a bad quality of tyre for a Premium India Sedan is not acceptable. I would like the car tyre to be replaced immediately. Waiting for a positive response.
