Airtel Fraudulently taking away money from my bank account

Yesterday, while going through one of my credit card statements, I noticed that on a regular basis Airtel has been presenting bill for a previously closed/canceled/deactivated Airtel 3G datacard SIM (9945608004) to my credit card account and the same is getting debited from my account. This has been happening since last 2 and half years, without my knowledge.
During December 2012, I had taken a 3G datacard and a SIM whose associated postpaid number was 9945608004. The bill payment was done from my credit card based on my standing instruction which I had provided to Airtel.
After using this service for some time, later, around May/June 2014 timeframe, I called up on the Airtel customer care and requested them to deactivate the SIMcard and close my account associated with the mentioned 3G service. Afterwards, I received quite a few calls on my phone (9945602367) from Airtel customer care, persuading me not to close or cancel the service but rather to keep using it. But every time over their phone calls I had told them to discontinue the said service and to kindly close my account. After a few days, over a particular conversation with Airtel customer care, I was told that I had obtained the connection based on my company’s approval and the same can be only be closed/canceled/discontinued only if the corporate Airtel connection in-charge from our company sends out a mail to the Airtel customer care requesting for a discontinuation of the service. Immediately, I followed up with the concerned person in our company (Ellucian) to do the needful. On the 13th June 2014, Friday, at around 6.25 PM, the corporate Airtel connection in-charge from our company had sent a mail to Airtel customer care to deactivate the service and the datacard. After this request from our company, Airtel presented a bill of amount Rs. 675.00 to my bank corresponding to which I received a notification from Airtel, with the transaction reference number “929087” on my mailbox, on the 30th June 2014. Also, I had received a confirmation call from Airtel customer care sometime around this timeframe, regarding the cancellation of the 3G service. The person confirmed that the said 3G service has been deactivated and there will be no further bills/charges be generated for this account.
But immediately, the following month I received a notification from my bank that a bill of amount Rs. 0.00 was presented from Airtel and had been rejected by the bank as it is less than the minimum amount. Again, I reached out to Airtel customer care regarding this, on 6th August 2014, over email. But there was no reply from Airtel for that mail. In the month of August, once again the same sort of “bill payment Rejected” notification alert came from my bank for a bill amount of Rs. 0.00 being presented by Airtel in my bank. Once again, I wrote to customer care on 2nd September 2014. But did not receive any reply for that mail from Airtel.
And later, Airtel started presenting bills of more and more amount to my bank and the same has been getting debited from my account, over the past 2 and half years. There had been no email notifications to me from Airtel for any of such transactions. I would consider this act of Airtel, as highly unethical, rather fraudulent.
Apart from this I am in relation with Airtel since more than 10 years over postpaid mobile services carrying number 9945602367. If Airtel does not reimburse all of my amounts with interest which have been taken fraudulently from my account over the last 2 and half years, I would take this up legally.

    Hi Akanksha,

It’s been more than 7 days now, since I had posted my grievances in this forum. I have neither received any call from Airtel nor any further responses regarding the progress with your investigation/process.

    Hi Akash,

Which resolution are you talking about? No resolution has been provided to me yet. I visited to Airtel office which is in front of the Shanti Nagar Bus stand. I discussed about this matter with a person named “Jacob”. He further asked me to provide a written complaint and to share with him my previous 2 and half years credit card statements. On 17th October 2016, I handed over a written complaint along with the print out of the mail communication related to closure of my account and the credit card statements that reflected the faulty transactions made from Airtel.

Further, I have sent several mails related to this matter to [email protected], as per your suggestion. But surprisingly, Airtel still keeps presenting bills to my credit card account for the same number and the payments are still going on from my account.

Additionally, I am in constant touch with Jacob from Airtel (in front of Shanti Nagar bus stand), who has been providing me false assurances that soon the refund will be done by Airtel into my account.
I don’t know how to deal with this situation. I have shared my contact number in all my emails. I am sharing it again now as well. Please contact me on 9945602367.

    Regards,
    Ananta

No resolution has been provided to this complaint till date. I have sent several emails to [email protected] explaing the above matter. Also, I have visited to Airtel office which is near Lalbagh road, in front of Shanti Nagar bus stand and discussed this matter with an Airtel executive named “Jacob”. He asked me to give a written complaint and also to share all those credit card statements of past 2 and half years which display the faulty transaction records made by Airtel. On the 17th October 2016, I handed over all the said documents along with a printout of the email confirmation related to cancellation of the datacard number 9945608004 (dated 13th June 2014). I was given the assurance that soon my money will be refunded into my account. But till date nothing has happened and surprisingly, Airtel still keeps presenting bills and claiming amount from my credit card account. The last bill which was presented by Airtel to my credit card account was on 14th Nov 2016 and an amount of Rs. 437 has got cleared from my account.

Still the person (Jacob the Airtel executive) keeps assuring me that the money will get refunded. I am tired of all these follow ups. I am thinking of taking it up legally.

    Please contact me on 9945602367.

    Regards,
    Ananta
