We applied for a new Airtel Broadband connection through airtel official website a yesterday 8 June 2016.
An Airtel representative (Avinash) called us same day from number (8800192871) and told he was calling from Udyog vihar office of airtel. He provided me lead number. Same day in evening, (8 June 2016) an executive came to our place to collect the ID proof and address proof (Voter ID, PAN Card, a passport size photo) and device payment. We paid him Rs. 2100 and he said that the connection will be installed by 6.30 pm same day by an engineer. He gave a bottom part of form hereby attached. I asked him to do it quickly because I work from home and without internet connectivity I have been facing a lot of difficulties. He said he will send the engineer at 6.30 pm today and install the connection. However the never came. The engineer’s contact number (9205658511) and the person who collected the documents and payment (9205658797) were never turned on. They were always switched off. Nor the sales person Avinash called us for any update. I did several follow ups with him, HE KEPT ON DISCONNECTING THE CALL AND SWITCHING OFF HIS PHONE and finally on 9 June 2016 at 1 pm, he escalated my call to Arvind and Rajeev Sinha who said that they cannot install the connection because of the unavailability of the network port.

Then I asked them for the refund of the amount that I paid. They said they will return the money and asked for my account details. When I asked him to provide me a format through their official email id and send me the invoice for paid amount. They declined. AND HE IS NOW, NOT PICKING OUR PHONE. IF WE CALL HIM FROM A NEW NUMBER, HE DISCONNECTS THE CALL AS SOON AS HE RECOGNIZES OUR VOICE.

My complaint number regarding same is registered with airtel customer care numbered – (68763610/68785392).They were unable to track the issue with all the lead number provided to me by Avinash.And said that such application was never submitted to the Airtel.

I was very dissapointed to see how a representative of a reputed company can do all this!

There are few things that clearly shows that he was a cheat.

1. I said, I will pay the device payment through cheque but he refused to accept the cheque. He said Airtel accepts only cash.

2. I asked him to give me a receipt for the amount but he said Airtel does not give any receipt. They only give application form copy.

3. There was no communication from his side even once. From the day he collected the money and documents, he never bothered to call us. The worst thing is he does not pick our calls also. But he picks the calls from unknown numbers.

4. There is no connection request raised from the provided lead number.

5. He declined to send a mail from official email id and provide office address.

6. I said I will go to the Airtel head office and will log a complaint against you. I was literally shocked when he said ‘do whatever you can’ .

We are now afraid that he can misuse our ID and address proof.
Also, my details are going in wrong hands from Airtel website. I do not intend to use it for any reason in near future and not even recommend.

    This has been a fraud carried out by airtel or definitely by the support of airtel.

    Also I have complained for this via every medium we can reach out to them but they are more interested to let their customers roam around their number of departments.

    I have it on phone recording that Airtel accepted that this person is a fraud but airtel doesnt seems to stop him or take action against him by any means.

    Went through the very same process. Took the Money and now all the phones are switched off. Called the Airtel customer care , not at all helpful. Have all the fools sitting there.Surely the call center person with whom i spoke the first time is leaks the numbers to people like Avinash.

    what to do now ?

    Hi Mayank, Ashmita, Vaibhav,

    Same process happened with me as well. All the details like names and contacts are same. He collected the money 1600 from me in cash. I asked for the receipt. He gave some form half part and said this is the receipt. I was having very little doubt so I took the photo of the driving license of the person collecting money.

    Now phones are switched off. Called the Airtel customer care , not at all helpful.

    It is Airtel fault : Someone from Airtel sales team/customer care team etc has leaked our details to the above fraud person.

    Reason In My Case/Ashmita Case : As We entered our details only on the Airtel website.

    Reason in Mayank Case : The call Centre person with whom he spoke the first time is leaks the numbers to people like
    Avinash Gupta : Sales Representative
    Rajeev Sinha : Technician Head
    Dilip Rawat : Installation Guy
    Sachin : Cash Collector

    I am also worried about our documents. I think we all should file the complain again Airtel as they leaked our information to these people. I am sharing my contact number.
