False promises and wrong policies

I got a call from vodafone representative who insisted me to switch from prepaid to post-paid (as my monthly expenses were more then Rs.1200 per month which was reflected in their system.) I agreed to her suggestion and gave my consent over that.

I am working as Assistant Professor in a Government College and residing in accommodation provided by my employer. As per your company rules I was asked to submit document regarding my ID proof and residential proof which was an obvious thing and I had no objection in submitting that.

1) I submitted a letter (on letterhead of Principal) issued from Principal of our college indicating as proof of identity. Moreover my photo was also pasted on that letter and duly attested by Principal

(Here I wish to mention that Principal of a government college is a gazetted officer which is the most common and well established fact and every literate men with basic commonsense is aware about that.)

2) As a proof of address I submitted and my recent credit card statement which regularly dispatches to me through postal mail.

(Both of these documents are listed as valid proof on website of vodafone as well as on CAF (cusomer application form) of company. I had also used the same letter previously which was issued by our Principal for my Home loan Application and my credit card application and I successfully allotted home loan and CC)

Meanwhile I received a call from vodafone representative that these document will not work as proof of identity and address.

I was shocked to here that and I drawn their attention that these documents are mentioned on vodafone website as valid document then he replied that you have to submit valid id proof of issuing authority of that letter (i.e. Principal of our college) I was again shocked cause I was never expecting such stupid questions. While talking to these stupid person I realized that they have misinterpreted the language written on web-site??

On web site it is written that ;

” Certificate from MLA/Class I Gazetted officer with photo.
(Original Certificate acceptable)”

They have interpreted it as photo of gazetted officer is required. Soon I realized that this person is poor in English that’s why he is demanding id proof of Principal. This was disgusting … I was unable to control over my laugh. Then I tried to convince him but he was not ready to accept it and stuck to the thumb rule that only elcectricity bill/landline bill work as address proof and DL/Adhar card will work as ID proof. Since I my DL and Adhar and Voter ID was of a different state he completely denied to accept it.

Late on I called to nodal customer care officer. His reply was more comic. He didnt know that who are under category of gazetted officer. He said Principal of government college is not G-1 officer. I tried to convince him that Principal post is the most higher post in education system he falls under pay-band 4 (i.e. 37800) his gross salary per month is approx. 1.6 then also he was not ready to get my point.

I was deeply wracked to know that these persons are not ready to give me a post-paid connection. When I came to know that while Bank has no objection to give me home loan or credit card, vodafone company has rejected me for giving me merely a simple post paid sim card, I was deeply hurt and my self confidence was completely demolished.

I request you to take strict action against the company and its highly disqualified and manner less staff who themselves are not clear about their policies. The worst thing is that this company has tagline “Happy to help you”. I want to suggest them that rather then this they should write “Happy to hurt you”
