Fake Calls from Insurance Regulatory

I am receiving calls from Employee of “GOVERNING BODY OF INSURANCE COUNCIL”, they are taking feedback about my running insurance policies with any of the insurance company. They are saying If u have any problem we will help you out.
Once I shared 1 of my issue with them they advised to do several things and in last demand for Rs 4500 today itself else they will not help me, I said, ok, I don’t need your help.

Second time I ask them to give their registration no then they disconnected the line.

But now a days I am receiving calls from them, a lady named Miss/Mrs. Neha (phone no 011-409803914), called me several times.

When I said, “I am not interested” she is insisting me to share the feedback.

Want to know is there any kind of firm which help customers in such a way, if not kindly catch them all else they will cheat to some innocent customers.

    It’s a big scam and people have lost lakhs of rupees (20~25 lakhs).
    I had contacted the vigilance officer of IRDA in Hyderabad regarding one similar case on e-mail.
    They replied no one repeat no one is authorised on their behalf . The second e-mail from PR guy advised me to contact the police in case of further calls and forwarded to me all ads they have put up warning all about the fraud.
    On TV as well everyday there are adds warning general public.
    It’s amazing how the gullible fall for charlatans.

    HI, I am Sumit, I have also recieved all from same number 01-409803914, claiming to be GBIC employee Kabir Naik, he gave his mobile number also which is 09599366712 HE said I have bonus of 25890 against a policy for which I have paid only 13000 only till now. they told to claim your bonus you need to generate UI number, whih can be generated if your take another policy directly from any company. So I choose HDFC. After that, HDFC person also called from almost similar number, only last 2 digit different. They told You need to send give cheque for new policy today only otherwise they would not help, I said thank you and searched for comments regarding fake call and found this post. I don’t know what to do?

    I too received a call today from 01-409803914 no. Claimed he is calling from Delhi. I was online and started browsing his website and inquired why no Delhi address is mentioned here or why only Mumbai address is mentioned. After other several cross questions he disconnected the call abruptly. These people a big scammers do not fall prey to them. Even senior authorities wont help as everyone knows very well that most of these centers are operated from Noida and they are getting their fixed commissions from them. So people just be aware and help yourself.

    Hi.. Me too received a call from Governing body of insurance council, Guy who called me told his name Mr. VIKAS and also gave his mobile no. Company hold a dividend of Rs. 1,50,000/- against my policy which i have taken from L.I.C. India in 2012, he said insurance sector earn a huge amount in Common wealth games (Delhi) so now they are offering the dividend to their policy holders and your are one of the Precious policy holder for company…. He speaks continuously for 15-20 minutes and at last said, we just need to confirm your details so that company can transfer your money to your account.

    🙂 I told him, the policy you are talking about is cancelled in 2013 due to some reasons & circumstances, and i have not paid any premium since 2013, then he just disconnect the line..

    Birla Sun life office. in between there were a chain of phone calls that happened and finally this fraud guy Kapil Sachdeva convienced me to get another policy from Reliance Insurance co. (and assured me that he will arrange Birla sunlife to give back all the premium that I have invested till date). Now after three months, this fraudester is totally untraceable and I have unnecessarily bought a policy from Reliance Insurance. Please be aware of this imposter.

    In Dec.2015 I got a fake call from this guy called Kapil Sachdeva Ph. 8745026349 who claimed that he was calling me from GBIC (Governing body of Insurance council) office. He called me many times and finally convienced me that my current policy with Birla sunlife is a bad policy and I should switch over to another policy from Reliance. He also assured me that he would help me to get all my money back from Birla Sunlife. It’s been more than three months now and this guy is completely untraceable.

    In Dec June.2016 I got a fake call from this guy called Vivkek Sharma Ph. 9069293808 who claimed that he was calling me from GBIC (Governing body of Insurance council) office. He called me many times and that my current policy with ICICI prudential is not giving me amount as per I have to receive, he said to me that you have paid 125000/- from last 5 years and you have to receive approx 200000/- but your fund value is 137000 which is not upto mark he assured me that he would help me to get my interest approx 45000/- back from ICICI Prudential for that I have to freeze my policy and for that I’ll get a call from ICICI prudential Customer care, and after 2 hours I have received the call and she said that I am freezing your amount, you will get compulsary that amount 137000/- if market will down, and in case of up you will get up amount, but when I confirm this from ICICI prudential customer care. They said that We have not received such type of request from GBIC. Means this all is some type of scandal.

    I just received call from+918750167408 GBIC saying that i have a policy with bonus to be claimed and asked to open HDFC insurance with 30k check and empty check beware of tunes guys…

    Complaint –
    Against SBI for leaking my details to unauthorised personnels who used my details to almost dupe my off money by selling off a new policy unethically in lieu of cancelling my policy (just like the concept of MNP for mobile number – as was told to me). These people have duped many people since 2015.

    The person appeared to be calling from GBIC (GOVERNING BODY OF INSURANCE COUNCIL) by the name Kapil Sachdeva (8860136338).

    The chronology of events that occured are as mentioned below :
    Day 1 : Someone from GBIC ( as he stated ) called me up asking me for that the policy issuing authority has to give periodic updates regarding the policy to which i replied and said that I am not getting any updates as such regarding this. Then they said they will forward my complaint to the GBIC as they are the one dealing with such complaints
    Day 2 : Kapil Sachdeva from GBIC (GOVERNING BODY OF INSURANCE COUNCIL) called up and told that my policy (exactly stated my policy number and the number of premiums I had filled and the due date for premium deposit) for which I had invested 1.5 L is worth lesser amount and is going in loss and will not make it to ~ 3.76 L (on maturity as was stated by my agent) and also tried to know if I was in any way in touch with the agent and asked me not to get in touch regarding this with him as he would say otherwise and would not agree to whatever he communicated to me.He then gave me an exit strategy in which he would forward my complaint to SBI Life corporate office to which I should ask him to freeze my existing sbi policy when I receive a call from the deputed person from SBI Life corporate office. He also gave me a complaint number SBLI-005276 (seemingly to look legit) and to communicate the same to the SBI guy when he/she called me up.
    Day 3 : SBI Life corporate deputed person (Ravi Verma – 8750921837) argued with me and eventually agreed to freeze my policy and gave me a policy freeze code for which I had 24 hours to buy a new policy (which will be stated by supposed GBIC guy, Kapil)

    I grew slightly suspicious and before investing in any of the policy i decided to check the legitimacy of the forum to which I found out that many other people have also been duped in such a manner and then decided to have some recordings for you to have some piece of sample evidence for you to carry forward.
    I am sending the relevant contact number screenshots (from true caller) and the forum on which people have complained against such people.

    I almost fell in their trap. As a respoinsible citizen I dont want any other person to fall in their trap, so I want you to take notice of the same and get them nabbed and put them behind bars and cancel their licenses (if their) altogether.

    I can understand how bad situation you are going, you know because of your post i am able to save myself from Kapil Fraud clamming to be from GBIC.

    may be in few days he can switch to a new number.

    I got a call from a land line number starting from 140. The guy told me that I have a 1.5 Lakh rupee bonus from my Insurance Policy which will be automatically given to my LIC Agent If I dont claim. I asked him his phone number and called him back. I said that your mobile number is being traced and you will be caught anytime. he immediately accepted that tried to do scams. His number is
    88822 79709, his name as per him is Satish Sharma (may be fake name)
    Requesting authorities to take against the holder of this phone number you may catch hold of these scamsters.

    Very Close to this Fraudulent.

    One person called me and said he is from Max Life insurance. He informed me that the agent (I bought via Axis Bank) who put this insurance is claiming my bonus money. He asked me “did you ever approved your claim to Agent”. I said “No”. Then he asked me to lodged a complaint and gave me a complaint number “MAX******” and he continued the conversation and said he has also made complaint in GBIC-Governing body of insurance council. Then said GBIC people will call back me to proceed about the complaint.

    After 30 mins a person named Sanjay Mittal called me saying he is from GBIC and had long conversion and my agent is doing fraud against me and is claiming the bonus money sum of Rs 2,10,558/- to his name and account and also he is saying that while putting the policy I have signed many documents without knowingly “what for it is” – and among one document he got my signature for approving bonus claim.
    Remember, when he says like this everyone will believe him – because mostly many of us never read the full document.

    In the end of conversation he said I should have a agency number to claim this bonus. To get an agency number he asked me to put/take new policy in Barati Axa Life Insurance or Future Generali Insurance or HDFC Insurance (all these are people 100% would have tie up with those cheaters) and asked me to give the documents (PAN, AATHAR, 2 Photos, Cancelled Cheque and 50,000/- favoring Bharati Axa and this fund will be returned in 1yr with 12% interest) and abruptly forced me to do within 1 hr time otherwise that old agent will run away with my bonus. This is where I realised he is trapping me. Then he went on and asked my Bank account details. Finally I understood this something fishy and I politely went on him as Iam agreeing to his statements. After his call within 10 mins a person named Masood called me saying he is from Bharati Axa and he got my complaint number from GBIC and he will help me in getting one agency number for me to claim the bonus amount.

    Friends please please do remember one thing. In India no government employees would work this much faster and in-fact they never bother about ourself. This is where they got exposed. Funny.

    Then as usual I searched about this in internet and got to know about this scam.

    I am sharing this to purely cautioning about our safety.

    These guys clearly getting our details from insiders. In my case MAX Insurance Company has give my entire details to him.
    He clearly tells my Name, Address, Nominee, even our annual income and ofcourse he called my personal number. There is no security for our data. Simply sold our data for cheap benefits.

    Same thing happened to me. Kapil sachdeva from GBIC called and told my Birla policies are in loss. Shivaji Chauhan from BIRLA called and told me my policies are closed but I have to but new policy to get the money. Kapil sold me HDFC policy and the Birla money never came. Birla CC says they have no info and my policies are suffering due to non payment.
    Please do not fall for these guys.
    I have phone recordings for all calls I have with these frauds. Please suggest if any action can be taken against them

    The fact is that I never took any policy from ICICI Prud.
    They have exact details of Name, Address, Date of Birth, mobile no. They sent me some documents in e-mail for approval for forwarding to higher ups for payment.
    I have not yet opened the documents for security reasons.
    I called up GBIC. They said name GBIC has been changed to “Executice Council of Insurers” (ECOI) and categorically said that it is a fake call.
    The mail I received from these fraudsters is [email protected] while the official mail of ECOI is [email protected] (ecoi.co.in vs gmail.com)
    I thought of sharing this in the hope that it will help someone not falling to this fraud.
    This racket is going on openly. ECOI and Insurers need to create awareness to protect interest of people.

    I too have been receiving calls for last 2 days from “Governing Body of Insurance Council” (GBIC) saying that I have not claimed my dues of past ULIP policy with ICICI Pudential and an amount of Rs 4,87,965 is due to me.Not just that, they are willing to accept ANY policy documents from me including ICICI Prudential, Birla Sunlife, Aviva etc. The initial call came from a supposedly Rishabh Sharma (Phone no.8448244138) and was later transferred to a lady supposedly named Megha Mishra (Phone no. 7289874074). They have exact details of Name, Address, Date of Birth, mobile no. They sent me some documents in e-mail for approval for forwarding to higher ups for payment. I have not yet opened the documents for security reasons.
    I called up GBIC. They said name GBIC has been changed to “Executice Council of Insurers” (ECOI) and categorically said that it is a fake call.
    The mail I received from these fraudsters is [email protected] while the official mail of ECOI is [email protected] (ecoi.co.in vs gmail.com). They are fishing for all personal details and are specifically looking for token no. on the ULIP policy documents. They also asked me to contact them before paying ANY premiums on any other policy I have.
    I thought of sharing this in the hope that it will help someone not falling to this fraud. This racket is going on openly. ECOI and Insurers need to create awareness to protect interest of people.

    We received a call on our landline number from Mr Ashutosh Varma who said he’s calling from ECOI (Phone Number – 07838584055) and that one of our father’s old policy has gone to them for cancellation. He said that our agent has applied for it without our knowledge. He had some basic details about us and spoke about some Application File No which he has to cancel and half money will go to the travel agent and the other half to the government. Inbetween, he transferred the call to his assistant Ms Manvi Aggarwal who also referred to and repeated the same details like a parrot.

    He said that he can help us create a duplicate policy copy if we send him scans of all our ID proofs and father’s death certificate and make a payment of Rs 24000 via an online link. Then our duplicate policy will be created, the premium amt transferred to this new policy and then submit for closure and we’ll received payment in 90 days.

    Post multiple calls with them, their story changed from submitting the amt to Bharti AXA Life insurance company to sending him the details via whatsapp since he will personally submit it for us. This is when i found this forum online and decided not to go ahead. Pls beware of such organised fraud.

    I recieved a series of call –
    1. I got call from GBIC – asking about which insurance company I am using and are they updating about policy details regularly. Then they registered a complaint against LIC (as my policy was with LIC).
    2. Next Day I got call from LIC – AJIT RANA – 7042297345. He persuaded me that I am having loss in this policy and I should do something as most of my bonus amount is going to agent commission. He had all my details already (I only shared DOB). He then raised a complaint from behalf of LIC – with complaint number and told me somone from GBIC will call you.
    3. I got call from GBIC – RAJAT MALHOTRA – 7534068817. He asked me the compliant number and gave me an option to change INSURANCE company TPA under 64C section. The TPA option he explained was too much beneficial that is where the doubt started. I told him I will let you know.
    4. After 2 days I got call again from LIC – AJIT RANA – and told me that complaint is cancelled. I should choose the TPA option immediately so that complaint can be activated again. Now I was sure there is something wrong. I denied .

    But they had all details – Policy number , phone number , agent commission , invested amount , tenure.

    Last 2 days, i am getting a call from LIC saying he is my Personal Banker (9990702613) and he asked me my DOB and in case have issues with LIC policy.
    However he has all my policy details and he spoke for 30 mins and raised complaint in GBIC.
    Immediteatly next day i got a call from Abhijit Singh @GBIC (8448541861) adressing the same issues and offering settlement and asking to pay the premium in new short term policy which he will get as a replacement for my current LIC policy.
    BUT need to pay 25K immedieately.
    Please be aware of such Fraudlents
