All right I had no other option than doing this as AIRTEL just don’t seem to understand my problem.
I ported my number 9819858323 from VODAFONE to AIRTEL. I did that after I received a telemarketing call from Airtel promising me to help with the porting procedure at my door step. I provided all the required documents(Passport, PAN CARD , VODAFONE phone bill, Photos) to complete the procedure. After receiving the porting request success message from AIRTEL on the alternate number 9892743765(that belongs to my dad), I inserted the new SIM that was provided to me by AIRTEL, restarted the phone hoping the network to resume so that I could complete the telephone verification and to my surprise I had NO NETWORK.
On calling the AIRTEL CUSTOMER CARE, I found out that this number has been mapped to some person named Munnar Shaikh from Malad , however the alternate number still shows up the one I had provided. I was shocked to find that how can Airtel be so careless with document verification and that too for a POSTPAID connection. What if this person happens to misuse my number ?
This issue can PUT ME IN SERIOUS TROUBLE for no fault of mine. All the customer care executives and the ones at gallery kept saying that I shouldn’t have initiated this porting procedure via the telemarketing guy. My question to AIRTEL is that HOW THE HELL ON EARTH IS THE END CUSTOMER SUPPOSE TO KNOW OF YOUR INTERNAL ISSUES????
I have visited a couple of airtel galleries in my area and was promised to get this fixed soon and its been a week that I still haven’t received a resolution. I went to the gallery with my original documents which were verified, a day after I received a call from airtel stating that the process has been initiated and as I expected, I didn’t hear back from them again.
WHAT ON EARTH AM I EXPECTED TO DO TO GET MY NUMBER BACK ???
