I purchased 4 items totally costing Rs.3,060 on the Bag-it-Today site on 28.Feb.2014. All the items were bought online under a promotion scheme called ‘Deal-a-thon’ where I was entitled for a 50% discount just by entering promotion code ‘SHOP50’
I made the purchase and entered the code, The system confirmed providing the 50% discount of Rs.1,530 and the final invoice amount was shown as Rs.1,827 including shipping charges of Rs.297.
Since the default screen was showing payment mode as CREDIT CARD, I changed to NET BANKING. The invoice amounts remained unchanged, showing the discount.
However, the moment I chose the bank (ICICI), the entered promotion code as well as the discount seem to have disappeared. So when I was taken to netbanking site, my account was debited for the full amount without discount. The order ref is 33678987.
I immediately called the customer service dept. and told them of all the circumstances. I clearly told them them that I purchased the products only because of the 50% discount. So either they credit the discount to my account or cancel the order.
However, much to my surprise, the bag-it-today representative kept insisting that discount cannot be given anymore nor can they cancel the order. After much arguing, he agreed to register my cancellation request with ref # 1419566.
After 2 days, on 2.Mar.2014, I received an email from Chandra Mohan, Senior-Executive-Customer Care, Bagittoday, that my order cannot be cancelled and I have to accept delivery.
Immediately I wrote back flatly refusing to accept the order. I ctaegorically mentioned that either BagitToday credit my account the discount or cancel the entire order.
After 3 reminders, I sent screen shots of the entire process, clearly showing how I was cheated by their own system.
Even after 11 days, they have not responded to my emails and reminders.
I believe that I have been cheated of the 50% discount that I was legitimately eligible for no fault of mine. The fault was entirely with the online system of BagItToday.
