Clip Charges being charged by Airtel – though Government of India

As per Trai (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) Clip charges should not be made compulsory.

Ref:
Tariff plans with misleading titles
prohibited

(iii) Charges for CLIP facility cannot be made a
compulsory item of tariff for subscribers in
any tariff plan. Whenever, CLIP charges are
sought to be levied by the service providers
it should be optional for the subscribers.
[Direction No.301-49/2005-Eco dated 16th
September 2005 and 23rd August 2007]

______________

I called my service provider i.e. Airtel and mentioned that why CLIP charges are applicable in my plan. To which he mentioned we can wave off the Clip Charges. I told them as per the TRAIL (under Government of India) have made clip facility non chargeable since year 2007.

My sim was activated in year 2008 or 2009, since then i have been paying CLIP charges on my mobile bill & these have never been removed by AIRTEL.

Though I am loyal customer of Airtel, however, i would seriously recommend to spread such awareness to consumers that such charges are not applicable.

I request, though the medium of this forum, my complain is given due consideration and should be looked in to seriously with Airtel.

Rgds, Gaurav Mehta

  3. I opeted for Airtel’s myPlan last month. I see that clip charges has been added to my bill though i haven’t opted for the same. When i asked customer care, they said it is mandatory. But it looks like its against TRAI rules.
I have been using airtel since 7 years and i have been ill informed about this. Its very disappointing to see how airtel treats their customers.
