Skoda Superb Automatic – Megatronic Gear and Clutch Prolems

Location/place: Mumbai

Name of company/service: Skoda India

Skoda has fitted a faulty gearbox in Superb automatic. The DSG megatronic gearbox invariably fails after doing about 20k kilomters and needs replacement. Along with it the multi clutch also needs frequent replacement. This is a chronic problem tha plagues nearly all the Skoda Superb Automatic cars. However the company does not acknowledge this issue and keep on charging exorbitant amounts from customers to replace those parts. I had replaced the full megatronic gearbox less then two years ago and this time I am told that the multiclutch needs replacement. The total part cost along with labour is about INR 90,000. The megatronic replacement cost, which I could push the company to pay was about INR 200,000.
I am apalled that Skoda is taking Indian consumers for a ride and not asking for a recall of the faulty cars.

  1. I purchased skoda 1.8 TSI Patrol about 3 Years Back (45000 Km), The AC of this car never works properly, Now i am facing the new problem in the morning when I start the car it vibrates badly for few Km and it becomes smooth after about 4-5 Km drive.
The service centre me that clutch need to be replaced,
Though I had taken the warranty cover up-to 2015, but they say it is not covered under warranty,
I am in a fix I do not know what to do now.
