Location/place: Mumbai
Name of company/service: Reliance Communications
I wished to terminate a postpaid reliance landline connection. So, I went to the Reliance Communications store in Mulund (W) opposite the Bal Rajeshwar Mandir on the L.B.S. Marg and requested for the same. This is what happed:-
Day 1: I was asked to clear the outstanding bill. I did. Then, I was given a hotline phone in the store and was asked to dial *367 and put in a request. I did (A girl answered the call after I was put on hold for 7 minutes listening to the Reliance tunes). The girl on the other side of the phone(after listening to my request and putting me on hold thrice more to enquire about my request) told me that I had just cleared the bill and my request cannot be processed until next 3 days.
Day 2(3 days after I had cleared my bill): I was handed over a form and was asked to fill it and bring a photo copy of any one identity proof and a passport size photograph.
Day 3: I filled the form. I took a photo copy of the voter card and a passport size photograph as asked. Then, on giving the form I was said that the given form is not for termination (Is that my mistake? Is that my responsibility?). I was handed over another form and was asked to fill it and bring a photo copy of any one identity proof and a passport size photograph.
Day 4: Again. I filled the form. I took a photo copy of the voter card and a passport size photograph as asked. I was said that the quality of the photo copy is not proper (Even when all the details were visible).
Day 5: I got another photo copy and went to the store again to listen to this, “Sir, you may have to pay the bill of this month also. But, today our software system that checks for your outstanding bills is not working. You will have to come again tomorrow.”
Day 6: After checking the system and accepting the documents, “Sir, you will have to pay this month’s bill. But, we will deduct the amount from your deposit and the check of the amount will be sent to you within 90 days. Also, the processing charges will be deducted from that amount.”
NOTE: No acknowledgements were given to me in any of the mentioned cases.
Beginning of the new month: I got a call from a girl representing Reliance Communications, who said, “Your request application was not sent properly. The postpaid Reliance Communications landline number cannot be terminated. You will have to pay the bill.”
Are you serious? Why should I do this now? I gave my time for this, followed the procedure and did everything that I was asked for. The next I get is this?
This is a complaint against the “Reliance Communications”. I have a feeling that the company is not in the mood to terminate my connection & wants me to pay the bills for the connection that I am not using and wish to terminate. I also feel they are not in the mood to return the deposit amount that I had paid to them when this connection was purchased.
The connection (022-32534061) is registered under the name Hassanand V. Samtani.
