Unauthorized VAS activation and charges.

Name of company/service: Reliance GSM

Hi. I’m using reliance GSM. Earlier i used to get customer service calls regarding caller tunes. I would just disconnect them. Then i would receive a message stating that i got charged for the caller tune. I would call the customer service line *333 talk to a rep, get charged for 50p/3mins, and get my amount refunded. I was informed to contact 198 if i had any similar issues. Then i activated my DND service and awesome, i stopped getting CS calls and never got charged for caller tunes. Life was happy. @but reliance came to know that i was happy. Hence to screw my happiness they opted for a very trendy way. I started gettin messages like this:” Amount Charged for VAS One97 GSM Rs:20.00.

” on 12/9/2012, ”Amount Charged for VAS One97 GSM Rs:20.00.
Current Main Balance : Rs:6.12” on 12/9/2012, ”Amount Charged for VAS One97 GSM Rs:20.00.
Current Main Balance : Rs:9.96” on16/9/2012, ”Amount Charged for VAS One97 GSM Rs:20.00.
Current Main Balance : Rs:9.18” on 17/9/2012, ” Amount Refunded for VAS One97 GSM Rs:-20.00.
Current Main Balance : Rs:7.68” on 17/9/2012, ” Amount Charged for VAS EasyMobile VP Rs:2.00.
Current Main Balance : Rs:37.59” on 17/9/2012, ” Amount Charged for VAS One97 GSM Rs:20.00.
Current Main Balance : Rs:37.00 ” on 18/9/2012, ” You have requested for EasMantra pack for 30 days at Rs:30.00.To confirm reply ‘yes’ to this msg.” on 18/9/2012 and ” Amount Charged for VAS EasyMobile VP Rs:2.00.
Current Main Balance : Rs:35.00” on 18/9/2012. Each time i had to call the 198 number or *333 number to get the amount refunded. I really greatfull that they are immediately refunding my money but i’m also frustrated about why did they charge me in the first place. If i did not notice these messages they would have simply kept me charging. I’m really upset about this issue bcoz even after all these interactions they are not able to resolve my issue.WHY AM I GETTING CHARGED FOR SOMETHING THAT I NEVER ACTIVATED? This is a serious issue. And on top of this one of the rep i spoke with even told me that i’m not the only person having this issue. Just imagine if out 1 lak customers only 10 report this issue and get the amount refunded, then what about the amount that no one has ever asked refund for? I want to know how can i file a consumer case on reliance for there irresponsive and non satisfactionery resolutions. Please help….

    Hii, I am also a victim of the above-mentioned unauthorized VAS activation from the part of Reliance. I am a Reliance CDMA customer for the last 5+ years. The SMS I used to get was “Amount Charged for VAS EasyMobile VP Rs:2.00” and the amount got deducted from my account. This happened for three consecutive days. On the third day, I got alarmed and called customer service and they kept me waiting for around 15-20 minutes to take the call (@Rs. 0.5/3 minutes). The rep I talked to told me that the service will get deactivated within 24 hours and the amount will be refunded, but he failed to give me an explanation as to how this happened without the knowledge of the customer. Moreover, I lost a total of around Rs. 7.5 (Rs. 6/- for unauthorized VAS + call charge for customer care call) and out of that Rs. 7.5, I got only Rs. 2/- as refund – relatively a small amount when compared to yours, but still, they shouldn’t have done that without the knowledge of the customer. There were no problems with Reliance earlier, but now a days things like this happen quite often (I had one bad experience a few months earlier, in June 2012, but then they refunded the whole amount – Rs. 30). Now, I am seriously thinking about porting my number to another provider. I am totally unsatisfied because of this unauthorized VAS from the part of Reliance.

    Current Main Balance : Rs:72.28”. Somebody pls help me.

    Call them and they will refund. For me they have refunded me for more than they have charged. But i never asked for it. And i’m afraid that in the future they might send me legal notice to get the amount that they over refunded. Please isn’t there anyone who can help me on this?

    My 2 RIL GSM mobile nos too is getting deducted with Rs.2 per day. Shocked to see the activation message at 2.30am!

    But, in one of the two numbers, after few hours of activaton message, i got the following message “Dear Customer, You are not subscribed to any VAS packs”. Do not know if they have refunded Rs.2 that was deducted soon after the activation (not bothered though).

    Yes this is a real cause of concern. I have also had this problem, complained, got refunded and again they have started charging. Refund only for those who ask??

    i dont understand why are they steeling customers money by automatically activating this VAS services, previously i use to think it is happening with me only but after searching the net i found out most of reliance customers are facing the same problem.. i think this is a new way of making easy money for reliance… they ae not even thinking of their reputation …. my no. 9883147746 is still getting deduced wit rs. 5 , 15 every one or two days… have no idea how to unsubscribe from this service … thinking of porting the same no. to other decent network provider

    Reliance is suddenly sending unwanted sms informing that amount charged for VAS 97 VP service. I never understand what it is and why it is deducted in my account. This happens only when I recharge or topoup my account for amount more than 50 rupees and above. I never get amount returned after surprised deducting with any cause. Now I will never re-charge my moblie above 30 rupees, If I do so I have to utilize it as soon as possible within a day and not to become victim of Reliance unwanted tactics.

    Every month VAS One97 has been deducting Rs. 30.00 , some times Rs. 3 when the balance is less than 10 Rs. This is an open and a bold crime. Had it been USA, the company would have become bankrupt and the persons responsible for this unpardonable crime would have been behind bars. This is India. Every one is free is to cheat. And everyone goes Scott free. I request all the victims to make it a collective cause and find out the legal remedy to teach a lesson to the crook. Let’s hire a good advocate to take up the matter to High Court that it is an infringement on our fundamental rights , and an unauthorized deduction is disturbing our peace of mind. It is amazing that Reliance is silent when its customers are being openly cheated by VAS One 97. Does anyone know its contact number?Please send it, I will take the action in the court of law. Reliance is equally guilty since it does not take any action against VAS One 97 to ventilate legitimate grievances of its valued customers.

    I m a new customer reliance gsm. And really could not make out why am I getting such VAS one 97 messages and getting money deducted evrytime i recharge my number. I didnt even know wat it is actually.Could get through their Customer Care execuives even, does any one know how to connect with them? Calling on 198, 333 is all vain.
    How Surprising it is, we are being cheated and nobody is there to listen!!

    All guys pasting chuna to public….previously use to charge Rs 3 this time charge Rs.10….Will call them and start in tone only….these co`s are fraud and make a lot of money in these way making people full…

    Reliance has deducted 30 Rs for VAS one97 which i have not activated …why?

    A plausible reason imo for this VAS One97SDP et al deductions could be those pesky commercial text msgs Reliance loves to continually bombard us with… for eg. “Watch moaning Sunny Leone, Salman Khan….”
    So says the Reliance 198 customer care operator when she refunded my Rs 15 VAS deduction 2day. The moot point is how do we keep our fingers and cognizance clear off those pesky msgs (so pesky that’s its a bother trying to keep them at an arm’s length).

    I had faced same issue of VAS97 few days ago.

    Rs 60 was deducted. This is due to DND is not activated. Once DND is on, you will not receive such messages.

    How to get money back?

    1. Call 198. (My call never connect 198). So left calling.

    2. Email reliance care: [email protected] & mark CC to nodal officer ie appellate authority about your complaint from below link:

    4. Contact Reliance Mobile (@RelianceMobile) on Twitter and complaint them about the concern problem. Do not mention them about the mobile number on Twitter as it’s public. Just mention you’re facing terrible problem and wasn’t expecting such problems from Reliance company with wrong deductions.

    I did all the four & got the refund back after about a week or so.

    Pass the same message to you friends who faced or face this issue.

    My balance is deducted continuously for some VAS services and monthly charges which i never availed.
    Please refund amount charged for VAS USSD services and deactivate it.My reliance number is 9017174535.
    Please, do the same otherwise i will be forced to change the mobile operator.

    Today I got a message – exact message goes below amount charged for vas one97stalkdp Rs:15.00. Current main balance : Rs:4 and reliance gsm deducted Ra 15 from my main balance. Even I don’t know what is vas one97stalkdp. So please sove it and refund that amount in my account
