SETTLEMENT OF CLIMS

Dear Sir/Madam,

My vehicle (Yamaha FZS Version 2, Registration Number KA-05 JM 5878) met with an accident on the 8th September 2015.

I notified my Insurance company Liberty Videcon (Policy Number 2012-500201-15-1001892-00-000) about the accident and completed the claim procedure on the 10th September. The surveyor surveyed the vehicle and asked the Yamaha dealer (Laxmi Internation, Arekere, Bannerghatta Road).

The asked the dealer to go ahead with the repairs. The dealer took almost a month to complete the repeairs because the spares took time to reach from Yamaha. In the meanwhile, I was never given any copy of the surveyor report (either by the surveyor or the dealer where the vehicle was left )

I was not even intimated by the Insurance company about the survey report nor given any estimate of the claim)

Finally, I contacted the dealer on 8th Oct 2015, paid Rs 8371/- and took possession of my vehicle. When I asked the dealer to give me a copy of the survey report and the claim approved by the surveyor, the dealer said that they did not have the copy with them

A letter dated 12th Oct 2015 from Liberty Videcon states that my claim number 500201201215110010801 was open because I had not yet left the vehicle for repairs. When I called the company this morning (19th Oct 2015), they requested me to ignore the letter and told me that the amount being settled against my claim was Rupees Two Thousand odd (Rs 2000/ – odd).

Through this complaint, I wish to make Liberty Videcon responsible for the following

1. Keeping the consumer in the dark about the claim settlement procedure
2. No coordination between the Dealer and the Insurance company resulting is complete confusion as to what is the survey report and what is the damage claim
3. Finally, the Insurance Company is guilty of forcing me to settle the full payment to my dealer without providing me an opportunity to understand the damage caused to my vehicle.

I would like to bring this to your notice and hope that you will be able to take this case further to ensure that all settlements in future to any consumer by the Insurance Company are settled as per the procedure. In my case, since I was never intimated, I demand that Liberty Videcon settle the full claim amount that I paid for getting my vehicle repaired.
