Today, I got a call at my home telling my mom as the person is calling from LIC, Main Branch, New Delhi. Fund Dept. The person asked why I have not claimed the Bonus amount of Rs. 168580/-. Whether I was not intimated by LIC or my Agent has done some mis-appropriation. He asked my mom the details of my bank account to credit the funds directly. My mom was surprised but even then she asked that person about my policy details and surprisingly he gave her all the exact details. In turn, my mom gave him my bank details. When I got the fact that it was a fake call, I immediately asked my bankers to block my debit card but it is really surprising that the person who called my mom was having complete details of my policies. It means the data at LIC of India is not safe. Hereonwards, if I get the genuine call from LIC, I will never give the details but it may create problems for me only. LIC must look into the matter and shall safeguard the consumer data. Please be aware of such calls asking for unclaimed bonus. As I am a Crime Reporter for a newspaper in Delhi only, I may be able to manage things but it will not be possible for everybody to handle such case.
