My name is lucky. I am from Lucknow city, I would like to intimate that on 16.06-2013 while surfing on OLX.com I came through an advertisement of Samsung Galaxy Note -2 which was kept for sale at the price of 19000/- as I was interested to purchase this phone to gift it to my elder brother on his birthday. I left a message to the seller through OLX asking about the price and details.
I received a call around 9: 00 PM from a person named Rohan Gupta from pune 08286805423, he told me that he posted that ad and he is currently having the handset which is available for sale, I asked him about the details he said he will drop me an email ([email protected]) with IMEI number and serial number with the pictures of the handset. ( email is enclosed for your kind reference ) he told me that he is having a samsung store in pune and once he will receive the money he will ship the phone to me, I agreed him and told him that my relative lives in pune he can collect the phone from you as he is coming to lucknow in 2-3 days he will handover the mobile phone to me, we both agreed and as per my commitment I deposited 19000/- is his account which he provided: ( Cash deposit slip enclosed)

while transferring the money I came to know the account number he gave was incorrect, so I called him again asking the same, he said due to typological error he gave incorrect number and asked me to deposit the cash in another ICICI bank account which according to him was his elder brother’s account by the name of Girish Parmar ac no.643401511425, goregaon west, Mumbai, so I deposited the cash in the mentioned account, as per his commitment he told me once he will get the confirmation of the money credit to his account he will send me the invoice and will provide the address where my relative can collect the handset, next day in morning Mr. Rohan Messaged me an address of his shop as:
Om sai electronics, Shop no- 6, gala no-2, ground floor, sai chowk road, near Hp petrol pump, pimpri pune- 411017, I forwarded this message to my relative to collect the same from him, and at 10:00 Am I called Mr. Rohan about this shop location he told me ask your relative to reach at shop by 12:00 because he got stuck in some work, I did the same, by 12:00 my relative started calling him and he was not responding his calls or my calls either, after whole day calling he didn’t responded, he sent me a message saying that please ask your relative to come at shop by 8:00 pm, when my relative reached at shop he told me it was Tuesday and local markets are usually closed, so I again called Mr. Rohan to confirm same he told me that he has some pending shipments to do therefore he will open the shop for sometime and will handover the phone to my relative. After that his cell phone was switched off, now I started suspecting that this person was not interested in giving the phone as he was continuously giving invalid reasons of his delays, in the mean time my relative tried to find his store location it came out that there is no shop named like this or any person named rohan gupta, my relative called me and informed same, I was shocked to know this and understood that I was the victim of online fraud.
Any how I started tracing this Rohan Gupta through the account details he gave me and got the number of Girish Parmar as 09967919878 and called him, he didn’t picked my call in first two attempts after continuous retry he picked up my call I asked where is rohan first he said he went outside when I asked for his number he said he didn’t have it, after talking to him and when I said I will put an FIR in his name he told me that rohan will refund my money and wont do anything like is in future.
Next day rohan sent me a threatening message that If he want he wont refund my money and I can do what ever I want and no one can catch him, I said I am sorry for what I did and please refund my money ( I have all the texts stored in my mobile of our conversation) on wednesday he transferred 10000/- in my account with a promise that rest 9000/- will be sent on saturday any how I thanked him and again apologized him for my bad language, he said it is fine and also told me that his uncle works in CBI and no one can touch him in whole maharastra and Ahmadabad, any how I couldn’t say anything as I was expecting my 9000/- back and didn’t want to get into any kind of argument. I again texted him apologizing the same
but he didn’t respond, and that Saturday also passed he was sure that I wont complain, but I didn’t stopped searching for him, after numerous efforts for tracing him I found his address and alternate contact number as;

As per his commitment I waited for some time, as everyday he promises that he will transfer the amount today and by evening he comes up with an excuse of busy with work or some relative admitted in hospital, or rain, and everyday I am sending him messages and calls asking same thing with politeness, but it seems now he is no longer interested to pay my money back, Sir the day I was suppose to deposit money in his account he called me around 12 times in a day to follow up for the payment.
I also contacted OLX for help they told me that they have removed this ad so that no other person can be cheated using this ad, and assured me that if I need any other details of ad posting I can contact them for police investigation (email enclosed).
after lot of efforts and mental harassment I am writing this email to seek help and to make sure that this person cannot cheat anyone else. If required I can also put an written complaint on his name in Cyber cell, Lucknow branch
