Complaint against Airtel Broadband

Name of company/service: Airtel Fixedline and broadband services

I used to own an Airtel broadband connection 08040941523_kk for which I requested a closure of service 4 months ago. As far as I know, the connection had been terminated 4 months ago and I have paid all the dues. But, today I got a mail warning me of legal action if I don’t pay the outstanding Rs. 2522.

I had made a request for the closure of service on 4th Apr 2013. The reference number is 44561101. I haven’t used the connection after making the service closure request. You kept on calling me for almost a month requesting me to continue the connection. Finally on May you agreed to cancel the connection. However, you had disabled my online account by then and I could not pay the dues on-line.

On 27-Jun-2013 I have paid Rs.1500 to your collection agent(exceed credit). Receipt Serial No:1770219

As per TRAI rule, the connection should have been cancelled within 7 days of the request for the closure of service. That means that you should have terminated the connection on 11th Apr 2013. However, you had charged rental for the month May. I had brought this to the attention of the collection agent. He in turn called the collection center and confirmed that I have to pay only Rs. 1500. He gave me a contact number 08041725882 (Harini) in case of any clarification. When I asked for a connection termination letter they said I would be getting it in a few days.

Of late, I started getting calls from some unknown third parties asking me to pay the dues. Today I got a mail warning me about legal action if I don’t pay the outstanding Rs. 2522. I tried calling a contact number given in the mail Ms Shabana On-9880984304 but she just hanged up the phone when I tried to explain her the problem.

I have used this connection for almost three years. Earlier, my company used to reimburse the telephone bills and I have paid all the bills on time. Please look into the matter and issue a proper connection termination letter.
