Defective Glass cooktop

Location/place: Ghaziabad

Name of company/service: Faber Industries Ltd.

: I had purchased a 4 burner glass cook top of ‘Faber Heatkraft’ model-crystal 400 CT from their dealer ‘Kitchen Care’,319 Nitikhand-3, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad vide cash memo no.257 dated 18/02/2010 for Rs.6000/-with normal warranty of one year on entire product.Howeverthe Dealer ensured me a life time warranty verbally for its glass top, claiming it to be toughened glass, provided no physical damage being made by the user intentionally or unintentionally. Suddenly on 26/12/2011 the so called toughened glass of the cooktop cracked on its own from all four of its sides without even touching it and a complaint no.1112258799 was registered at their customer care centre on 27/12/2011. Failing to resolve the problem by their service department a legal notice dated 15/6/2012 sent to them by my Advocate under the Consumer Protection Act, 1986. Subsequent to the legal notice the company issued instructions to Service Department for the replacement of the defective glass- top without any charges. Accordingly the glass top was replaced in the month of July 2012 after 7 months of my complaint.
Merely after 8 months from the date of replacement, the glass top has once again cracked in the same way on 29/3/2013 evening as it had previously. I have lodged my complaint with their customer care executive on 30/3/2013 vide complaint no.1303589836. Despite several letters and telephonic calls the company is not willing to replace the defective glass top free of cost. The company is selling substandard material in the name of toughened glass and charging exorbitant price accordingly.
