Wrong Charges by Standard Chartered

Dear Sir,

I have been struggling to get justice to remove wrong charges to my credit card account by Standard Chartered Bank, but in vain.

Please provide necessary help/guidance..

Dear Amuthvel,

I have been interacting with your team to remove unwanted charges levied to my card accounts…

Getting thru phone banking is really eating lots of efforts/time and finally your executives give stereo type answers, which of no use.. Even they, don’t connect to Managers and your Manager never revert back even after book requests..

More painful is your Head Service; every time some different person respond to emails without checking or going thru the previous correspondence.. !!!

I spoke to the great Relationship Manager, Ms. Sameera Rizvi, she said I am here only for sales and cannot provide any help.. Then my CS personally visited your Pune Branch, where amazing response we got that only credit card payment accepted and there is no to listen queries or even accept complaint letter..???

I have all the above records of phone calls, emails, etc and going to take it forward with RBI, Consumer Forum/Court and Media; before which I want you to go thru the trailing emails and convey your decision –

You have been charging, unnecessarily from Aug’12 and after making payment as indicated by you for the statement 5th Nov’12 – why have you charged again..

1. Mahattan card number ending…..8357, payment Rs.36,545.73, due date 29 Nov; same was made on 27 Nov; however, you have put charges of Rs1,304.94
2. Instabuy card number ending….1424, payment Rs.44,592.23, due date 29 Nov; Rs.6,485/- transfer by your executive on 5 Nov and Rs.44,893.27 made on 27 Nov = Total Rs.51,378.27; however, you have put charges of Rs.1,415.77

Please remove all the charges from Aug’12 immediately..

Subject: Final Warning to Remove Wrong Charges

To, Head Cards, SCB –

I have been writing to you and speaking to your customer care executives to remove following wrong charges levied to my credit card accounts, but there is no response..!!!

1. Statement dated 5th Sep – Visa card number ending with …8164 charges Rs.3,291.78 and Manhattan card number ending with …4635 charges Rs.2,002.32
= Whereas I have sent email on 28th Aug to adjust full payment made on 26/8 n 27/8) to both the credit cards and I have received confirmation email from you on 1st Sept that payment is adjusted accordingly.
2. Statement dated 5th Oct – Visa card number ending with …8164 charges Rs.2,658.56 and Manhattan card number ending with …4635 charges Rs.2,241.17
= Whereas I have sent email on 27th Sept to adjust full payment made on 24/9 n 26/9 to both the credit cards
3. Statement dated 5th Nov – Visa card number ending with …8164 charges Rs.2,062.65 and Manhattan card number ending with …4635 charges Rs.1,877.57
=Whereas I spoke to your customer care executive on 26/10 to adjust full payment made on 23/10 n 25/10 to both the credit cards. In fact I received call on 29/10 from Head Cards office, wherein the lady assured of removing all the wrong charges

Please note –

1. I am always making full payment to my credit card account before the due date i.e. statement date 5th and payment date 29th ; all above payments made and received by you well in advance.
2. I have tried calling your customer care executives, but it is really hard to get thru, hence sent emails. I have also left message ref no.201211003280 on 8th Nov’12, requesting your Manager to call back, but till date there is no call..!!
3. You have offered me easy payment option on my primary Visa card number ending with ..8164 and the installment is charged to same card account, where I am making full payment always. Hence I cannot keep making separate payments to one statement and you should not charge me penalty after receiving full payment for the same.
4. While approving easy payment option over phone, there was no instructions to make separate payments. You can verify the recorded conversation.
5. It is your duty to adjustment payment to all the pending heads/accounts and you should not keep credit to one account to charge penalty/interest to other account on the same statement. If so, then you should pay me interest at the same rate as you charged to me.
6. It shows your swindler intension to cheat customers after getting the full payment. And your arrogance of not removing such charges, stating unlawful/dishonest rules by your bank.

Therefore, this is final warning to you to remove all above charges and provide credit to my account with your retail interest rate immediately.

I have all the records (email/phone calls) and going to take up this matter with CGM, RBI, Media, Consumer forums, etc if I don’t act immediately.

I am submitting copy of this letter along with statement showing wrong charges to your Pune branch thru our Company Secretary, Mr. Ravi Sabnis tomorrow.
