   sir, its a pity for you to have a mental agony for 50 paisa… bull shit…
   if u have spare time pls sleep at your home. the acts are made for consumer genuine grieviences and not for playing…with them.

   sir, consumer protection act says unreasonable price, or excess amount , unjustified amount charged, in your case there is no unjustification on part of restaurant to round off the pity sum of 50 paisa. In todays practical market where rbi is not issuing coins of such small denomination what would the shopkeeper do!!! it is al all reasonable and justified to round off the amount to nearest rupee. consumer protection act or mrtp acts were formed earlier when these denomination of coins were prevelent. so in todays era in india this is not at all excess pricing and is fully justified……pls apply common sense. also the provisions of act are not to be applied blindly but as per situations boss. unreasonable and unjustified are the words on which mrtp act ot consumer protection act pounces upon… in your case the act of restaurant is neither unjustified nor unreasonable… so dont make a mess out of such a pity thing..

   I want to know. If I am paying by a credit card. How can someone still round up charge the extra from me. Think about lakhs of customer who come there. Thats like tax free income for the restaurant.

   I do agree with Aravindan. The same thing happened to me also recently where the restaurant charged more as round off amount. Though it is small amount (as stated here), will the merchant be so gracious to the consumer to charge that small amount less in the Bill? Consider this happening for hundreds of bills for a day, how much the merchant get for a year simply on account of this without any effort. Even if it is accounted and tax is paid, again it is an easy Income at the cost of the consumer. It needs legal remediation if it is not available now

   I completely agree with gautham and Subramanian, as stated above, why can’t a shopkeeper or restaurant can waive off the Paisa decimal digits to customer ?

   I absolutely agree. Its not about petty 50 Paise or not, or whether its in use or not. If someone is paying by card, there is no reason for rounding off. Can someone advise, how to file a legal complaint on such cases. Unless this comes to limelight, round-offs will continue to lure the customers.
