TATA DOCOMO 3G – EXCESS BILLING

Location/place: BANGALORE

Name of company/service: TATA DOCOMO

Hi,

I took a tata docomo postpaid corporate connection in December 2011.
On August 26th, I activated 3g services (199 pack) which gives 1gb free data for 30 days.

Without my intimation customer care executive have cancelled my existing 2G pack on the same day and activated another Dive-in pack for Rs. 130 for 30 days, Executives have not informed us about where 3G network is not available it automatically switches to 2G.

After using this for 10 – 15 days, I got a message from tata docomo that my credit limit has reached rs 1,500/- and hence I need to pay up immediately to enjoy continuous service (their exact words). They have disconnected all outgoing calls on the same day itself without informing me about the disconnection. So, I agreed and paid 1400/- on the same day. Then I called customer care executive, explained them the situation & asked to disconnect the 3G, It is their responsibility to explain the pack details i.e from when to when it is applicable, whether it is on prorata basis and how much will be extra usage we have done everything. But they didn’t give us any information, we were on the assumption that 1 GB pack is applicable even if I cancel the pack in the middle of the month.

Then on 26th September suddenly I got an SMS saying that my unbilled amount is reached 7,939 and hence I need to pay up immediately to enjoy continuous service (their exact words), and they disconnected all outgoing call on the same day within 2 hours of that SMS arrival. Now , my credit limit was rs. 1500 at the time of taking the connection and I never asked anybody to increase my credit limit. Nor DID I ever get any message from tata docomo in this period ( 14th September 20012 to 26th September 2012) informing me that my credit limit of rs.1500 has been reached and I need to pay up . Tata docomo, on their own accord, increased the credit limit without informing me or putting me on notice. They suddenly cut all services at rs.7939. Here my question is When I get an SMS from Tata Docomo immediately when I crossed credit limit 1,500/- (I.e. on 14th September & I immediately paid the same) what were they doing from 14th September to 26th September till the bill amount comes to Rs. 7,939/-

Now the question is how DID it reach rs .7939 . Guess what? post 1gb free data usage , they charge rs 10/Mb when all the other telco’s charge only rs 2/Mb(idea) , rs 3/Mb(airtel), rs 4/Mb(bsnl) . My total 3g usage is only 11,15,084 kb (approx 1.2 gb) , so it amounts to 200 mb above my free data usage of 1 gb. But here why didn’t the executive informed us about the clear pack details?? Do they think everybody is Birla / Ambani’s son??

This is cheating of the highest order and tata docomo are 5 times more expensive than idea (rs 2/Mb) .Even the extra 200 or so mb only adds up to rs .2000 at the highly inflated and unfair rate of rs 10/Mb . Still I am getting a bill of rs 7939. Tata docomo does not have the means to provide the exact site details and I firmly believe that my data usage has been tampered with.

This is highly distressing and totally against all normal trade practices in this fast moving technological world when 4g lte is out and data is not actually as expensive as it is now, classic example being my case.

I am fighting against billing dept. Of docomo from 29th September but no one reply properly and I am having 3 complaint no. with me, each time when I call they say your complaint is closed. But how will it closed without intimating me?? Like this 3 times I have raised complaint & I have the complaint number too, no one who talk with me having authority to solve problem (all
Pointing towards others) & when I had online chat with an executive they asked us to call 1515 & whenever I call it says please call 121.

By the way this happened to me even though I am a tata employee and my connection is also a corporate connection (I work for another tata group company, tata teleservices/Tata docomo though do not seem to share the ethics and standards followed here)

I request that the authorities concerned should take action against all mobile companies who increase the credit limit without putting the subscriber on notice and asking for his/Her consent. Otherwise all their claims should be made null and void , as happened in a supreme court verdict a few years ago, wherein credit card companies resorted to similar tactics to extort money from users. Supreme court ruled that without putting users on notice, the credit companies had no authority to claim the excess amount brought upon by increasing the credit limit themselves. Such unilateral actions by the telco’s and credit card companies are nothing but new tricks to cheat consumers of their hard earned money.

Please take action immediately and somebody help to file a pil against all mobile companies who resort to such cheating.

Kindly look into this matter seriously and give me justice by waiving off that amount of Internet Usage.
Else I have to lodge my complaint in consumer forum…Now I have to rethink on whether I should go with your services or not….?

Expecting your early positive response…

Tell me proper solution at the earliest.

    Hi,

We also have tried to chat your live chart executive, they say it is corporate connection we will not be having any data on this, please dial 1515, you know best answer what we get when we call 1515, there is an automatic answer please contact 121 they call automatically disconnects.

I came to know that 1515 number is not in use from May 2012 but unfortunately being working with Tata Docomo in customer support desk they doesn’t even have updated on this.

    Regards.
    Priyanka
